The last time Lowmarsh High won a football game, most of this year’s team was in middle school. On Friday night the Otters beat Harbor Point 14–13 and ended a 31-game losing streak.

The winning points came on a blocked extra point with three minutes left, returned by nobody: the ball simply bounced off a Harbor Point lineman’s helmet and fell short.

“I have coached a lot of games,” said head coach Denise Rowe, in her second season. “I have never seen a crowd run onto the field after a blocked extra point.”

Lowmarsh had 22 players on its roster at the start of last season. It has 41 this year.
