The seaside skate park reopens, with a bowl built by the people who ride it

Local skaters raised $180,000 and spent two summers designing the new bowl with the city.

The Seawall Skate Park reopened on Saturday after an 18-month rebuild. Its new centerpiece, an eight-foot bowl, was designed in a series of public sessions run by the skaters who use the park.

The Seawall Skaters Association raised $180,000 toward the $1.2 million project. The city paid the rest from its parks bond.
